YAML Formatting Tips
- Real-time Processing: YAML is formatted automatically as you type
- Indentation: YAML uses spaces for indentation, never tabs
- File Support: Drag and drop .yaml or .yml files for instant formatting
- Error Detection: Line-specific error messages help you fix syntax issues
- Always validate YAML syntax before deploying to production
Fix YAML indentation and validate structure before it breaks your pipeline
Paste YAML directly into the editor or upload a .yml or .yaml file. The tool parses the input using the yaml library, which means it catches real parse errors — not just visual issues. Two actions are available from the same toolbar: Prettify re-serializes the document with your chosen indent size and consistent spacing; Minify collapses it to the smallest valid representation. The Sort Keys toggle reorders all mapping keys alphabetically, which makes multi-file diffs much easier to read.
What the stats and error display tell you
Below the output, a stats row shows line count, number of keys found, and total character size. If the YAML is invalid, the error panel displays the error name, the message, and the line number where parsing failed — so you go straight to the broken line rather than scanning the whole file. Copy puts the formatted YAML on your clipboard; Download saves it as a .yaml file with a timestamp in the filename. Array Style lets you choose block style for readability or flow style for compact inline arrays.
