The renderer is WeasyPrint, not a headless browser. That’s a meaningful distinction. Headless Chrome renders what a browser would show an interactive user — JavaScript, dynamic content, cookies, login states. WeasyPrint renders static HTML and CSS only. So: if your page requires JavaScript to load its content, the URL mode will produce an empty or sparse PDF. Authentication-gated pages also won’t work — the server can’t log in on your behalf.
What WeasyPrint handles very well is CSS-heavy static markup: print stylesheets, @page rules, Flexbox, Grid, web fonts. If your use case is “turn this invoice template into a PDF” or “generate a PDF from this HTML report,” this is the right engine.
Input modes
- Convert URL
- Enter any public http or https address; the server fetches and renders it at conversion time. Dynamic/JS-rendered content will not appear.
- HTML Files
- Upload .html documents. If local CSS files are included in the same batch, they are linked automatically.
- HTML Code
- Paste or type markup directly. A character counter tracks length; a Clear button wipes the field.
Layout settings
- Page Size
- One Long Page (no pagination), A4, Letter, or Legal.
- Orientation
- Portrait or Landscape.
- Margin
- Standard, Minimum, or None.
- Device View
- Desktop, Tablet, or Mobile — sets the viewport width sent to the renderer, triggering responsive CSS breakpoints in the source.
