Three ways to resize — pick the one that fits your situation

If you need an image at a specific pixel size for a print layout or document, type in the exact width and height. If you just want it “half the size” or “twice as big” without doing any maths, use the percentage mode. And if you’re preparing photos for a gallery where some are portrait and some are landscape, the longest edge mode is your friend — it caps the longer side at whatever you set, and the shorter side adjusts automatically to keep the proportions right.

Platform sizes you actually need to know

Upload the wrong size and the platform just crops it automatically, often cutting off something important. These are the correct dimensions for each platform:

  1. Instagram Post — 1080×1080px square
  2. Instagram Story & Reel — 1080×1920px
  3. Facebook Cover — 820×312px
  4. YouTube Thumbnail — 1280×720px
  5. LinkedIn Banner — 1584×396px
  6. Twitter / X Header — 1500×500px
  7. Pinterest Pin — 1000×1500px
  8. Link preview (OG image) — 1200×630px

Making images bigger — what to expect

Shrinking an image always looks good. Making one bigger is trickier — the tool has to invent pixels that weren’t there before, and no algorithm can recover detail that the original file never had. Lanczos resampling gives the sharpest result of any standard method, but if the source is already blurry or low resolution, the upscaled version will be too.
